Well, the battle was less of a bloodbath than some likely expected, featured an epic kill from Arya, saw the end of the Night King, and left at least part of Winterfell standing. The alliance between Jon and Daenerys was fragile and looked as if it would. When the Unsullied and the Dothraki joined the Starks, the odds tilted sharply in favor of the living, but the advantage didnt have much impact on the outcome. The Night King has been defeated, but there’s no time for rest as the war for the throne - and the battle against Queen Cersei Lannister - lies on the horizon. The Battle of Winterfell was a lost cause before Daenerys Targaryen and her dragons joined the fight. ![]() ![]() As everyone catches their breath, the episode closes on Daenerys crying over the body of Ser Jorah while Drogon rests beside her, and Melisandre removes her necklace, walking off into the snow as an old lady before falling and dying. The Battle of Winterfell was fought between the living and the Night King and his Army of the Dead in Game of Thrones.
